The cost of war does not end when the last bullet is fired or the last bomb is dropped. For many veterans, it continues for the rest of their lives, and long-term support remains an ongoing responsibility.

That support includes access to education programs such as the GI Bill, disability compensation for service-related injuries, and reliable access to healthcare and other services.

The Department of Veterans Affairs, including the Veterans Health Administration, has faced longstanding challenges in delivering timely and consistent care. Many veterans continue to experience delays, administrative barriers, and difficulty navigating the system.

Addressing these issues requires consistent oversight and accountability. This includes reviewing how programs are implemented, identifying where regulations create unnecessary obstacles, and ensuring that policies remain focused on serving veterans effectively.
