Dear 3rd District,

As an Army veteran, I am grateful for the opportunity to introduce myself and share my background with you. My time in the military shaped my understanding of duty, responsibility, and service, and those values continue to guide me today.

I was born and raised in Fort Wayne, surrounded by hardworking people who were committed to their families, their communities, and their country. My family has deep roots here and a long history of service. My grandfathers served in the Army during World War II, and their stories of sacrifice and perseverance have stayed with me. Both of my parents worked in the trucking industry, an essential part of our economy. My sister is a nurse, and my brother-in-law serves as a Fort Wayne police officer.

I served as a Cavalry Scout with the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment and deployed to Iraq, where I was responsible for reconnaissance and supporting combat operations. After returning home, I continued my work in public service as a staff member for Senators Dan Coats and Mike Braun, where I worked on issues including veterans’ healthcare, federal spending, and regulatory oversight.

I am a graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School, where I developed a strong foundation in faith, discipline, and community. After my military service, I earned my bachelor’s degree from Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), further strengthening my connection to this region.

My wife, who immigrated legally from Germany, and I have built our life here in Northeast Indiana. Together, we are raising our three children in the same community that shaped me.

I believe in the importance of limited government, individual liberty, and personal responsibility. I also believe that economic growth comes from individuals, small businesses, and entrepreneurs — not from government picking winners and losers. Policies should support a stable environment where businesses can grow and families can succeed.

I am pro-life and believe in the importance of protecting life at all stages. I also believe in protecting the constitutional rights of all Americans, including freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and the right to bear arms.

I believe, like many families in our district, that it is important to leave the country better than we found it. That belief continues to shape how I approach service and responsibility.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me.

Sincerely,
Jon Kenworthy
